Privacy Policy
Lasting Light, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company,
doing business as Lasting Light Photography — Hood River, Oregon
Lasting Light, LLC, doing business as Lasting Light Photography (“Lasting Light,” “we,” “us”) is a commercial photography practice organized as a limited liability company in the State of Oregon. This policy explains what personal information we collect through lastinglight.photo and in the course of our photography work, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
We are a small practice. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have no interest in collecting anything we do not need in order to do the work.
1. Information you give us
Through the Request a Proposal form
When you ask us for a proposal we collect your name, email address and a description of your project, all of which are required, and — if you choose to provide them — your company, phone number, project type, timing, shoot location, and approximate budget band, along with how you heard about us. The form also records which page of the site you sent it from.
Please do not send us sensitive information through this form. The project description is a free-text field and we cannot control what is typed into it. We do not need, and ask you not to include, health information, government identification numbers, financial account details, or personal information about other people who have not agreed to it. If you need to discuss something sensitive, ask us to call you instead.
Form submissions are processed by Formspark, a third-party form service, which delivers them to us by email. Our website does not store them. We keep the resulting correspondence in our email and business records.
By contacting us directly
If you email, call or text us, we keep what you send in the ordinary course of running the business.
In the course of an engagement
Clients give us information so that a session can be planned and delivered: contact details for the people we will work with, site access and scheduling details, shot lists, and sometimes the names and job titles of the people to be photographed. We use it only to plan, produce and deliver the work, and to invoice for it.
2. Information collected automatically when you visit the site
Our website is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles every request and records standard server information including IP addresses.
We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used:
Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies and records pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser information, and a small number of specific actions: submitting a proposal request, clicking a phone number, and downloading our brochure or a case study.
Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track visitors across sites.
When you arrive from one of our Google ads, Google Ads records whether you went on to request a proposal. To match that request to the ad, the email address and phone number you enter are sent to Google in hashed form. We do not use Google’s tools to build advertising audiences, and we do not share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
That measurement is the only advertising use we make of the site. We run no remarketing trackers and do not follow you across other sites. If that changes, we will update this policy before doing so.
3. Photographs
Photography is our business, and photographs of identifiable people are personal information. This section describes how we treat them.
People we photograph on purpose. When we photograph identifiable individuals — headshots, portraits, or people at work — we obtain a release, or work under our client’s authority where our client has obtained consent from the people involved. The release records how the images may be used.
People captured incidentally. Commercial and aerial work sometimes captures people who are not the subject of the assignment. We do not publish images in which an incidental individual is the identifiable subject, and we will remove such an image from our own marketing on request.
Where images are published. Selected work appears on this website, in case studies, and in marketing material, subject to the licensing and release terms agreed with the client.
Metadata. Camera files carry technical metadata such as capture time and equipment, camera settings, copyright information, and can carry location coordinates.
Storage. Original camera files and delivered galleries are stored on professional cloud storage services and on our own equipment.
4. Why we use this information
To answer your inquiry and prepare a proposal
To plan, photograph, edit and deliver an engagement
To invoice, keep accounts, and meet tax and record-keeping obligations
To show our work, within the terms agreed with each client
To understand how the website is used, so it can be improved
To prevent spam and abuse of our forms
5. Who else sees it
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers who help us run the practice, and only so far as they need it:

Oregon residents. The Oregon Consumer Privacy Act grants residents rights to confirm, obtain a copy of, correct and delete personal data, to obtain a list of the third parties their data has been disclosed to, and to opt out of the sale of personal data and of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal data and do not conduct targeted advertising.
Analytics opt-out. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your visit by installing Google’s browser opt-out add-on, or by using a browser or extension that blocks it. The site works normally either way.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for how a website should respond, and this site does not currently respond to it.
8. Security
We protect information with measures appropriate to a practice of our size: access controls on our accounts and storage, encryption in transit on this website, and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the revised version here with a new effective date. Where a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell you by email.
